Communication with staff could be challenging, as only a few employees spoke English proficiently, which led to some misunderstandings.

The private bath was amazing, giving us a

lovely insight into the onsen experience without being in a public setting. Overall, the stay was quite comforting.

I truly enjoyed my stay at Umino Hotel Hajime. The room was spacious with a breathtaking ocean view and a delightful private ceramic bath. Breakfast was wonderfully unique, featuring a Japanese breakfast spread that included freshly cooked bacon and eggs at each table.

The room provided stunning views of Beppu Bay, which was a delight every morning. The private ceramic bath offered a unique experience, allowing for a relaxing soak with picturesque scenery. Housekeeping ensured fresh towels were consistently provided, maintaining cleanliness throughout my stay. However, the windows lacked screens, letting bugs in when opened, making the experience less enjoyable during the night. Additionally, noise from the upper floors occasionally disrupted the peace I sought. While dining was an adventure with Japanese-style meals, the price felt steep for the service I experienced, lacking clear communication at times. It’s a shame, as the potential for a memorable experience is evident but hampered a bit by these issues.

Great place for a family with kids

The room was spacious and had a giant window showing off the ocean view! Plus, the outdoor hot spring experience was amazing, especially during sunrise.

It wasn't exactly cheap but still acceptable.

The family loved the breathtaking sea views from our spacious room, and the private onsen was a fantastic way to unwind. My teenage daughter particularly enjoyed the rooftop onsen experience at sunrise. it was stunning and very refreshing.

My kids wished there were more clear instructions on using the futon beds and yukata.

The room was really spacious with a huge window where you can just sit and admire that beautiful ocean. Plus, the staff was super helpful, they even ran to help us carry our bags right when we got there, service like that just feels special.

It was a bit pricey but I guess it's worth it for the experience.

The outdoor hot spring was a highlight for us, especially seeing the sunrise over Beppu Bay. With two kids in tow, the spacious room fit us well, and we enjoyed the unique Japanese breakfast with freshly cooked bacon and eggs.

For dads, it would be great to have better instructions for the futon beds.

The room had an amazing view of Beppu Bay, and I loved soaking in the pottery bath while taking in the scenery. Relaxing in the outdoor hot spring while watching the sunrise was a fantastic way to start the day. Just a heads up, the futon setup could've been clearer, but that didn't spoil the overall great experience! ☀️
